Quality and Warranty

QUALITY

HUTTON yacht winches and HUTTON-ORCA anchor winches for sail and power boats are designed and engineered by a close knit team, at our premises in Sydney, Australia. Each member of our team has had extensive experience in the research, product development and manufacture of yacht winches.
Most of us have learned our trade back in the mid sixties, when Malcolm Barlow first started building BARLOW winches. At approximately the same time, BARIENT in California also manufactured yacht winches. From the very beginning, both manufacturers' winches were virtually interchangeable which goes to prove:
'When you see a good thing - copy it'.

In those early years we learnt that winches needed to be reliable and easy to service. Yachties expect their winches to work, even if they have forgotten to service the winches for the last 'x' seasons!
Throughout the years, everyone in our team has been involved in all major developments in our industry, for example:

• the introduction of self-tailing winches;
• forged, die cast and injection mouldedcomponents;
• the manufacture of 3 and 4-speed winches; and so on.

Some of those innovations have revolutionized our industry, others have added little to the reliability of winches. Often, they were embraced to aid mass production and to make the winches lighter.

At AUSTRALIAN YACHT WINCH we have, in accordance with our primary goal, stuck by the original concept:

To manufacture winches that are reliable, efficient, easy to service and match in presentation and style the best on offer on today's market.

We believe that today's HUTTON Winches and Furlers and HUTTON-ORCA Anchor Winches are a successful and desirable blend of proven engineering and style that enhances the deck layouts of modern sail and power boats.

WARRANTY

The AUSTRALIAN YACHT WINCH PTY. LTD. guarantees its products and each piece of equipment to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 5 years. Any part that proves to be defective in the normal use of HUTTON and HUTTON-ORCA products will be repaired/replaced without charge. You just pay the cost of freight.

The above Warranty is subject to the following limitations:

1. This warranty does not apply to damage resulting from accident, neglect or misuse, including alterations made by unauthorized personnel.
2. This Warranty is limited to a period of one (1) year from date of purchase, for the following parts:
1. Aluminium Winch Drums, Furler Extrusions and other Aluminium Components.
2. Reduction Gearboxes manufactured by companies other than the AUSTRALIAN YACHT WINCH P/L and by the AUSTRALIAN YACHT WINCH P/L, such as installed in Power Winches and Anchor Windlasses
3. Electric and Hydraulic motors

The AUSTRALIAN YACHT WINCH P/L shall not be liable for consequential damage to yachts, equipment or persons due to any failure of HUTTON or HUTTON-ORCA equipment.

Some countries do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damage, therefore the above exclusion or limitation may not apply to you.
